Hello and welcome to Cookreja.
I’m Chandni Kukreja, and I promise that’s the only pun you’ll see on here. I’ve been cooking since I was thirteen – first helping out mum, and then when I was older, experimenting in the kitchen on my own. I’ve learned a lot over the years from the amazing cooks in my family, cooking shows, cook books, podcasts, and the internet. But moving out of home and managing my own kitchen has been the most humbling and teaching food experience of all.
I’ve come to realise that my style of cooking (and eating) is very very simple. I like dishes that are easy to put together, and wholesome to eat. Just the way I ate growing up. I’ve also come to realise, that I’m not a foodie. I crave familiarity and comfort from my food and trying something new is rarely at the top of my food list.
This blog isn’t about recipes per se. It’s a space where I document everything I’m learning while I attempt to make cooking my daily meals easier. This involves planning ahead and doing a round of meal prep every weekend so I can cook faster on weekdays. It involves unlearning and relearning a lot of things I thought I knew about food.
Whether you’re new to this cooking-for-yourself thing, an expert, or anywhere in the spectrum, thank you for joining me on this delicious and messy journey. We have a lot to learn from one another in an attempt to make our taste buds and our tummies happy. Thanks for spending some of your time with me.
I post my daily food wins and struggles on Instagram. Come say hi! And if you’d like to talk to me about anything food-related feel free to DM me on Instagram or write to me at [email protected]
Happy cooking!
